Panel on Justice administration in colonial spaces : 12th European Social Science History conference (ESSHC) (Belfast, Queen’s University, 4-7/04/2017)

Date limite de soumission : vendredi 3 mars 2017

- The International Institute of Social History will organize the Twelfth European Social Science History conference in Belfast, 4-7 April 2018 at Queen’s University

Nuno Camarinhas, a postdoctoral research fellow at CEDIS (Faculdade de Direito, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Portugal) would like to propose and organise a panel to this Conference.
This panel aims at examining justice administration in colonial spaces in different imperial experiences, with a special interest (but not limited to) in the period between the late 18th and the early 20th century. Themes such as ’recruitment and profiles of magistrates’, ’the construction of overseas judicial apparatuses’, ’circulation of agents and information’, ’co-existence and conflicts with local institutions’ or ’magistracy and political change’ are particularly welcome.
This forms part of post-doctoral research he is currently developing for the Portuguese colonial experience and he would like to broaden the dialog with colleagues researching on different empires.

He is looking for four panelists. If you are interested, please contact him at nuno.camarinhas chez fd.unl.pt until March 3rd, 2017.
